On October 4, 1924, the World Series between the New York Giants and the Washington Senators began at Griffith Stadium in Washington, D.C. During this game, a notable photograph was taken capturing three prominent baseball figures: George Sisler, Babe Ruth, and Ty Cobb.
George Sisler, a star first baseman for the St. Louis Browns, attended the game as a spectator. He had an outstanding season in 1924, leading the American League in hits and finishing second in batting average.
Babe Ruth the iconic outfielder for the New York Yankees, was present at the game to watch the competition. Ruth had a phenomenal year in 1924, setting a new single-season record by hitting 46 home runs.
Ty Cobb a legendary outfielder for the Detroit Tigers, was also in attendance. Despite not participating in the World Series that year, Cobb was widely recognized as one of the greatest baseball players of his time.
