Hoyes is a master of colorful and rhythmical compositions. His art's immersive, narrative qualities come from his intuitive approach. He allows the spirits to take possession as he paints, so the ritual theme becomes dominant. His paintings are often interpreted as authentic revelations of altered states of reality. Hoyes has been a creator of symbols of ancestral echoes since his childhood in Jamaica. The work is contemporary, eternal in spirit and stands as praise to our existence; past, present and future.
